Counselling

Counselling is partly finding the right person to share with; and partly finding the right counsellor to help you move forward. That's what Gary provides, through online or personal counselling therapy.

  • Anxiety, stress and depression

  • Addictive substances, thoughts and behaviours

  • Issues with sex, sexual function and our feelings about them

  • Past trauma and abuse

  • Grief and loss (in all their forms)

Counsellor, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Researcher

Put simply, I help men who feel stuck, unheard, hopeless or lost. I help men who are looking for a way to feel better, faster. That’s what counselling does.

Life throws a lot at us: change, loss, grief, pressure, stress. We often work our whole lives, only to feel it all falling apart.

Sometimes that presents itself as anxiety, the black cloud of depression, or coping mechanisms that can lead to addiction. We try to find ways to reduce the pain; but it just gets worse. It can feel hopeless.

But there is hope; counselling can make you feel better, within weeks or even sometimes days - not years.

That’s where I come in. I’m a neuro-diverse guy who’s experienced divorce, grief, addicted family members and more until one too many knocks made me decide to quit life. Counselling saved me, the right words at the right time. Deciding to help others gave me purpose and keeps me smiling. Call me, I'm ready to listen. I use a range of therapies that deliver weekly improvements in how you feel. I partner with you to reduce that mental pain level quickly.

How counselling works

Step 1: We have a quick chat

  • Call me on 0415792055 - if I’m busy, leave a message with your name and number, I’ll call you back.

  • Counselling works best when you have trust in your counsellor, and you need to have the right person for you - I won’t be right for everyone.

  • Having a quick chat gives you a chance to tell me a little about what’s happening with you, and it gives you a chance to learn about how I work, what I do, and for us to discuss the next steps. It’s obligation free - you’re in control.

Step 2: We book you in for a session

  • When you’re ready, we’ll select a time that works for you. I offer sessions in the mornings, afternoons and early evening, across the week and weekend - so there’s almost always a time to make it work.

  • I’ll email you an intake form that you complete in your own time.

  • First sessions are normally 75 minutes long, as we need a little more time to start working together. They cost $150.

  • All other sessions are 50 minutes long and cost $110.

  • Sessions are online or over the phone, with Walk and Talk sessions (where we meet and talk instead of sitting down) available if you’re local to me.

Step 3: We meet and talk

  • When it’s time for your session you’ll receive a link, or I’ll call you - or we’ll meet up, if it’s a Walk and Talk.

  • Then - we simply talk. There are two halves to counselling; in part it is about having someone to talk with, to share what you’re feeling and what’s going on. But the other half of counselling is often more helpful; sharing practical, simple ways to start feeling better. Ways to become unstuck and improve.

Step 4: You’re in control

  • With counselling you’re always in control. You can stop whenever you wish. You can book in whenever you want.

  • Usually it will only take a handful of sessions to deliver real change; you can book in weekly, or less often. You can book in by calling or texting me and requesting it, or make the sessions regular - it’s up to you.

  • And when you’re ready, you stop - you are always in control.
